How PDF compression works here
You choose a PDF and a target size; we rasterize pages in your browser and tune JPEG quality to approach that cap (text won't stay selectable). Optional page ranges help on very large files. Hard targets like compress pdf to 100kb aren't always reachable from every source — scans and images dominate size — but many documents shrink a lot with no signup.
Local processing
Like the rest of our privacy-first suite, this flow avoids sending your document to our servers for the core compression step, so it's a strong fit for confidential reports and contracts.
When to merge or split first
- Merge chapters before compressing a single handout.
- Split out heavy appendices if only part of the file needs sharing.
